Satin Mask Topper

Skill level - Intermediate

 

Needed:

This was written in PSPX

(Other versions should work as well).

 

A Tube of your choice. Wider than

high is best.

 

Note:

This was written for 1024 x 768 screen

resolution. User can adjust the

size to fit their own resolution.

 

My Supplies : HERE

(This will include two masks:

sg_satin-drape.jpg and topedgwmask9ss.jpg).

 

 

Performance Notes:

All settings will remain the same

unless otherwise noted.

 

Let's Begin

 

1  File > Open (Ctrl + O)

Open the masks.

 

2  Minimize the masks for now.

 

3  File > Open (Ctrl + O)

Open wide tube of your choice.

 

4  Window > Duplicate  (Shift + D)

Duplicate your tube and

close original.

 

5  Dropper Tool (E)

Foreground

Left click for dark color

from your tube.

Background

Right click for a light to medium

color from your tube.

 

6  Image > Resize

Settings:

Lock aspect ratio = Checked

Resize all layers = Checked

Resample using = Smart size

Width = No wider than 500 pixels.

Height = No higher than 400 pixels.

 

Note:

If you are using a higher resolution, adjust

size to better fit that screen.

 

7  Minimize tube for now.

 

8  File > New

Settings:

Width = 1024, Height = 450

Raster Background

Color depth = RGB - 8bits/channel

Transparent = Checked

 

9  Flood Fill Tool (F)

Settings:

Match mode = None

Use all layers = Unchecked

Blend mode = Normal, Opacity = 100

Fill with your chosen dark color.

 

10  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

11  Flood Fill Tool (F)

Fill with your chosen light color.

 

12  Layers > New Mask Layer >

From Image

Settings:

Source window = sg_satin-drape.jpg

Source luminance = Checked

Invert Mask Data = Checked

 

13  Layers > Merge > Merge Group

 

14  Restore up your tube.

 

15  Edit > Copy

Close tube.

 

16  Edit > Paste As A New Layer

 

Note:

If you are using a misted tube

you might want to skip this next

step.

 

17  Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings:

Your choice.

 

18  Layers > Merge > Merge Visible

 

19  Layers > New Mask Layer >

From Image

Apply topedgwmask9ss.jpg

 

20  Layers > Merge > Merge Group

 

21  Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow

Settings: 

Your choice.

 

22  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

23  Add your watermark.

 

Note:

At this point you may add any text

you might wish.

 

24  Image > Canvas Size

Settings:

Width = 1024, Height = 3000

Top Middle Arrow = Checked

 

25  Layers > New Raster Layer

 

26  Layers > Arrange >

Send To Bottom

 

27  Flood Fill Tool (F)

Fill with color of your choice.

 

28  File > Export JPEG Optimizer

Set compression value = 25 - 30
